About Jerry

As the former Digital Programs Director at the world renowned Santa Fe Photographic Workshops for fourteen years, Jerry Courvoisier is one of the world’s leading experts in digital imaging technologies. A cutting edge educator, Jerry has traveled the world to help photographers, manufacturers, software makers, stock agencies and government agencies take their image making and workflow into the digital age.

From his base in Santa Fe New Mexico, he has taught (and continues to teach) with the aforementioned Santa Fe Photographic Workshops and the National Geographic Expeditions “on assignment” series. His photography and imaging software teaching assignments take him frequently to the UK, Italy, Germany, and Australia.

In his consulting work, Jerry has worked with many corporate clients from Adobe to Microsoft. He worked closely with Adobe’s beta testing teams and product evangelist groups to promote imaging product integration and education. As stock agencies such as Corbis have made the transition from film to digital, Jerry customized workshops with the Corbis team for photographers in Santa Fe and at locations around the globe. Jerry was a contributor to the development of the digital imaging education program at the Defense Department’s Information School (DINFOS) at Fort Meade.

Jerry Courvoisier is a vast resource of talent with a wide array of skills that range from photography, imaging application instruction, and image asset management. As a technology writer, and self-avowed digital gadget addict, Jerry’s writing has appeared in the pages of Professional Photographer, Shutterbug, and Rangefinder Magazines

Jerry’s approach is straightforward and hands on. He helps his students grasp both the opportunities and the obstacles that are present as they refine and develop their own imaging workflow.

He is a patient instructor, providing an environment where people can both connect to technology more easily and break through creative boundaries. Jerry says, “I like to explore people’s passions for photography and how they envision what they want to produce.” For Jerry, the emphasis is always on the photograph – and whatever keeps people taking pictures and whatever feeds their passion.

Jerry’s Photographic Journey’s series of workshops enhances a visual creative experience by helping photographers fully experience and interact with the environment, the local culture, an inspiring location and moment to moment events – as they unfold.
